Blessings

"To bless and praise God is the fundamental response of the Christian to God's mighty works.  To bless God is to remember, recall, and invoke God's presence and assistance, as well as to offer our praise." (Blessings and Prayers for Home and Family)

"Jesus passed on to us the Jewish tradition of blessing.  In many tender scenes in the gospels, Jesus touches and blesses.  He welcomes little children, puts his arms around them, and blesses them (Mark 10:13-16).  When at table, Jesus blessed food (Mark 6:41).  As he ascends into heaven he raises his hands and blesses the disciples. (Luke 24.50-51.)" (Blessings and Prayers for Home and Family)
