Hospitality is an important aspect of our parish community. Those who fulfill the task of welcoming everyone who comes to Church are called greeters. Greeters are chosen to reflect the warmth and welcome of Christ himself. Always concious of the words of Jesus himself: "I was a stranger and you welcomed me."
Greeters are stationed at the foyer of the church, they act as hosts to warmly welcome the people of God to each Eucharistic celebration. Greeters are needed to assist in seating the congregation, they support other ministers, and help with the collections. They also choose individuals or family who will carry the gifts for offertory procession.
Greeters arrive at the church 20-25 minutes prior to the start of Mass. After Mass they complete a general clean up, kneelers in upright positions, books where they belong, and close doors. The greeters ministry is open to all. If you have the ability to reach out, engage and include all parishioners to participate in the liturgy, if you can reflect the warmth and welcome of Christ himself this may be the ministry you are called for.
If you are interested in becoming one of the greeters, please contact the Cathedral Rector (250-564-5225) or e-mail (secretary@shcpg.ca) with a subject line, 'Greeters.'
